Harry Potter scarves and hats and my boys

Those scarves for the older boys are so long they had to wrap them several times around.  Baby Andrew was so full of dislike of my having put a hat on his head and you can certainly see that.

Magnets

I have to let everyone know I emailed the site I ordered or thought I had ordered but didn't receive those garter carriage magnets. Now they are not open on the weekend so it took till Monday for me to hear back from them.

They said they missed the special order request that was done the way I was told to add it to my order because they, the magnets, were not available on the site. Yea, they told me they were putting them in the mail on Monday. Granted there was no mail on Monday but that is ok.

They even sent me a phone number and I called to make sure they had payment info so that there wouldn't be any problem in that area. They assured me that they still had the info and I was going to be getting these.

You know, I think I should keep my eyes out for others that might come along, or that I could run across and buy extras. You know, for that just in case type of thing. These things are not easy to find.

Sorry I didn't come back sooner to let everyone know. Work is driving me crazy. So much to do setting up a new business (well an old business under new owner).

So at night all I want to do is to sit and knit.

G-carriage magnets

Can we say total disappointment. I went shopping with my daughter and grands today only to come home to find the package that was from the site I ordered the magnets for my garter carriage from, only to find there was no magnets in the package. I got the row tripper, and a couple of new brushes (the rubber wheel kind as mine are old and will need replacing), but not one single magnet in the package.

She told me she had them, told me how to add them to the order through the special instructions section, but either someone goofed or there really wasn't any magnets available from them in the first place.

So it is back to searching out some other place. I wonder if I can again find that place in the UK that had them for about $12 each. I will have to go doing all that looking again.

So as life has thrown again and again, that piece will continue to sit there till I manage to get it up and running. Bummed I am but as I have lived so do I again with the If it isn't meant to be, it will not be. I guess it wasn't meant to be at this time.

More DVDs

I bought two more DVDs from Hobby Knitter. She now has out one for the ribber and one for the punchcard machine. I had to get them both. Why go with trying over and over to make these work when you can have help right at your finger tips.

Need help, be sure to check them out.

G-carriages

I found a garter carriage (g-carriage) sometime back at a second hand store and bought it. It was a good price. I like it. It can be doing its thing while I play with something else.

Now I found another g-carriage on ebay and bought it. It was $175 a bit more then what I paid for the other but still a very good price.

Bummer I didn't have another g-carriage mast to use so had to go looking for one of those. I found one though a for sale group. I have bought through this lady before and she is very nice. The unit was actually cheaper then I had thought I would need to pay. So good for that.

Then I went to check out the unit and discovered it didn't have the magnets I needed. So I took the ones off of my other carriage just to check to make sure it would work. It does. So I went looking for more magnets. These things are not easy to find, but I did it. I ordered two today, plus the row tripper that wasn't on the carriage. This is the row tripper for the knitting machine. The one for the knitleader is there.

Since I already have extra cams and extra needles I am good to go there. I did see this unit called a g-carriage monitor and now I am lusting after two of those. Sometime down the road I will save up for these.

The nightmare scarf

So I finished that Harry Potter scarf, in red heart gold and burgundy, on that innovations machine. It was what I consider a nightmare time of knitting. Right up to the two sections of burgundy it gave me trouble. Then I managed to get through two burgundy and one gold with no trouble. Twenty to twenty-one evenings (give or take a few) of working on this piece to get it completed. A few steps forward many steps backward is what it took.

So I decided that while the fight was in me I would start the hat. Wow, the hat went round and round, off the machine, gathered, and ends hidden in about an hour. Amazing.

The only thing I can think is that as the scarf got longer the weight was what was causing the problems. Well, the weight of the knitted fabric plus the weight of the yarn itself.

The hat being done, I decided to start the scarf for my other grandson. For this scarf and hat I had decided to use Caron Simply Soft, in Autumn Red and Mango. Very pretty colors these are.

So I started the scarf really expecting to have to fight as the weight of this fabric grew. No such un-luck. The scarf was done in about seven hours. A couple the first night and the rest the night after. After that I got the hat done in less time the other one.

So it must be that the red heart yarn is just thicker then the needles of the innovations likes when the fabric grows.

So now I am working at finishing off the ends of the scarves, did them on waste yarn. I picked up the stitches on one and put on needles to kitchener the ends.

I am going to have to make another of these scarves. It kind of surprised me that the simply soft one, with the same amount of rows, done with the same amount of stripes is longer then the red heart one. It is much too long for a five year old child. So now I have to adjust the rows to be knitted to make it shorter. After all you need the right amount of stripes.

Then I will have to make another hat as the first one will not match up with the rows of the second scarf. Also I think the first simply soft hat will also be a bit too big for my grandson. He just turned five yesterday.
